Rose Hill Farm & Ferments - Pommeau (500 mL)
Rose Hill Farm & Ferments - Pommeau (500 mL)
Rose Hill Farm's Pommeau is the ideal aperitif or dessert wine. Made with apples dating back to their inaugural 2018 harvest. Slightly fermented apple cider (Dabinett and Golden Russet), combined with an apple-pear-quince spirit (eau du vie), then barrel aged for three years in a Pineau de Charentes barrel prior to it's release.
Rose Hill's pommeau is really nice. Aromas of honey, apple, quince paste, candied brown sugar. Sweet with notes of honey, pilloncilo sugar, baked pineapple, apple, pear, baking spice, bit of barrel, sticky raisin, almond biscotti.
Pommeau is a traditional style of dessert cider originating in northern France. Similar to a port or sweet sherry, fresh cider (juice) is fortified with brandy of apples and pears to arrest fermentation, and preserve natural sweetness. Matured for years to develop a complex profile.
