North American Cider Apples Gift Box (6 Bottles)

This 6-bottle bundle of ciders is a delicious way to explore and celebrate American Cider's history, and makes for a fun gift! Cider lovers quickly become apple enthusiasts, and the more you learn about apple varieties the easier time you'll have finding ciders you're sure to love. There are an unknown number of apple varieties, and there are widely varying opinions on which varieties are best for cider making. Many cider lovers firmly believe that a quality cider requires balance only achieved by blending different apple varieties. These six single-varietal ciders challenge that theory in the most stubbornly American way!

Cider / Apple Varieties included in this bundle*:Ā

  • Virginia Hewes Crab - Albemarle's Virginia Hewes (750 mL): Virginia's Albemarle Ciderworks champions for traditional American cider apple varieties in most all of their releases. This delightful single-varietal cider is made from an American heirloom crabapple variety local to their area and favored widely by many.Ā Ā
  • Harrison - Snow Capped's Harrison (750Ā  mL): During the 18th and 19th centuries, the Harrison apple was the most popular and famed apple variety in the U.S. - grown almost exclusively for use in cider. At one point after Prohibition it was widely considered lost or extinct, only to be discovered again in New Jersey. Snow Capped's single-varietal Harrison is one of our favorites.Ā
  • Newtown Pippin - Haykin's Newtown Pippin (375 mL): The Newtown Pippin apple is one of America's oldest apples and is known for being one of Thomas Jefferson's favorites - including for cider making. Originally from the Newtown village on Long Island, the apple is full flavored and mouth watering. It evokes lime zest, green apple, the lemon and tea of an Arnold Palmer, a touch of honey, and some soft minerality. Few cidermakers do single-varietal ciders as elegantly as Haykin.Ā
  • Golden Russet - Union Hill's Golden Russet (500 mL): Named for it's most notable features - it's golden color and potato-like russeted skin, the Golden Russet is a favorite of ours for it's delightful, tropical flavor profile in ciders. Discovered in New York, the Golden Russet is a seedling of a russeted English apple cultivar.Ā
  • Airlie Red (aka Mountain Rose) - Peak Light's Airlie Red (750 mL): the Airlie Red - aka the Mountain Rose or the Hidden Rose - is a red-fleshed apple with a yellow skin but a deep, red color throughout it's inside. Originally found growing near the village of Airlie in Oregon, this apple has become highly sought after by cider makers in the Pacific Northwest and beyond.Ā
  • McIntosh - Liberty Ciderworks McIntosh (500 mL): The McIntosh apple is so beloved in the U.S. it's easy to forget that it was originally found in Ontario, Canada where it was grown by John McIntosh.Ā

We ship cider in boxes that safely hold 4-bottles, 6-bottles, or 12-bottles. Order in one of those quantities (or multiples of those quantities) to maximize your shipping value. For example, if you order 2-3 ciders, there will be room left in the box and it won't meaningfully change the shipping costs to fill the box.

We do have 1-bottle boxes, but in most all instances it will cost the same to ship you a full 4-bottle box.

Shipping to a business address will usually save you a few bucks!

Shipping cost estimates:

  • Pacific Northwest/West Coast: Shipping anywhere in the Pacific Northwest or West Coast is relatively inexpensive. Almost all box sizes cost $16-21 to ship. Same is true for most destinations in the Mountain Time Zone.
  • Central Standard Time Zone / Midwest: A 4-bottle or 6-bottle box will usually cost $18-24 to ship. A 12-bottle box will usually cost $22-30 to ship. Variance depends on weight and how far from a FedEx/UPS shipping center your delivery address is.
  • East Coast: A 4-bottle or 6-bottle box will usually cost $20-25 to ship. A 12-bottle box will usually cost $25-35 to ship. Variance depends on weight and how far from a FedEx/UPS shipping center your delivery address is.

Important Shipping Information:

  • We are able to ship cider to most, but not all, states.
  • Legally, someone 21+ must be present at the time of delivery to sign for the cider. We cannot ship to PO Boxes or AFO/FPO addresses.
  • Shipping prices vary by weight and destination.Ā How far you are from Seattle (where we ship from), and remote vs. central your shipping destination is, and how heavy your box is will make shipping vary.
  • The bigger the box, the less you pay in shipping on a per-bottle basis. We ship in 1, 4, 6, and 12 bottle boxes - order in those quantities for the best shipping value. The size of the box matters as much as the weight, so don't leave empty slots in your bottle box!Ā Shipping a 1-2 bottles will cost the same as shipping 4-6 bottles in most cases. Shipping a 12-bottle box is usually only $3-5 more than shipping a 4-6 bottle box.
  • Re-delivery and returns are the responsibility of the customer.
  • We don't recommend shipping during periods of extreme weather. If your area has weather of concern, pleaseĀ contact us and we can hold your order.Ā

We can usually accommodate rush requests for delivery or pickup. Please e-mail us at cider@pressthenpress.com or call/text us at (206)395-4008.

We offer home delivery of cider orders for customers in the Seattle area, including the east-side. Someone 21+ must be available to accept the delivery. We will be flexible in scheduling a delivery that works for you. Most deliveries are made within a few days of the order being placed.

Orders can be picked up for free at Makeda & Mingus, a coffee shop and community space in the Greenwood neighborhood. They are open everyday from 7AM-5PM. Orders are made available for pickup within 1-3 days.
