Fanjul - Sidra Natural Asturian Cider (700 mL)
Fanjul - Sidra Natural Asturian Cider (700 mL)
Fanjul's Sidra Natural is a traditional cider from Asturias region in Northern Spain. Natural Spanish cider is traditionally unfiltered, fermented using wild yeast (spontaneously fermented by native ambient yeasts), and bottled as a still cider (uncarboanted). The cider is dry with fresh green apple flavor profile with notes of licorice and banana aromas, nutty flavor and bracing acidity.
Most Spanish cider brands are imported to the U.S. infrequently and have a tendency to get a little more sour over time, so expect a bit of a tangy, sour kick to this cider. Still delightful, especially if your appreciate for Spanish Sidra is in part from the bit of tart acidity.
This Sidra Natural is made with native Asturian apple varieties: Raxao, Fuentes (sharp); Collaos (semi-sharp), Verdialona (sweet)

The Cider Journal: The Fanjul incarnation of Asturian cider delivers a bit more of the apple fruit aromas on the nose than many other natural ciders from this region. However, the tangy character and the funk is certainly front and center.
