Rootwood Harrison Cider is a single-varietal cider made from estate-grown Harrison apples. Rootwood Cider's estate orchard near Lake Chelan in Washington State has more than 500 Harrison trees growing today. A semi-dry cider full of juicy apple brightness with notes of apple skin, dried pineapple, candied orange peel, and tropical mango flavors with a warm sherry-like finish. It has medium-plus acidity, and medium minus tannins. Pairs well with roast duck or pork chops.
About Harrison apples: Considered by many to be the finest cider apple variety to originate in the United States, the Harrison apple dates back to the 1700s in New Jersey. Harrison apples were thought to be extinct - but a tree was found in 1976 in New Jersey and was brought back from extinction. This apple variety has become increasingly popular during the American Cider Renaissance the last several years. Harrison apples are rich in body boasting soft tannins, flavors of orange peel, coriander, tangerine, and subtle earthy and minerality notes.
