Alma Cider - Quince (500 mL)

Alma Cider - Quince (500 mL)
Alma Cider's Quince cider is made from 100% organic Van Deman quince that was locally grown and hand-picked from Willowrose Bay farm on Guemes Island in Washington State. The quince was pressed fresh, fermented to dry, and aged 5 months. The result is a light and tart beverage with bold quince aroma and flavor. Notes of lemon juice and zest, cranberry, and white flowers. Minimally filtered. Light carbonation. Pair with manchego cheese.
Quince is a cousin of apples & pears, all part of the Pome fruit family. Quince is less commonly known, and more rarely used in ciders. Quince has a distinct flavor, but also typically has very familiar floral and tropical flavor notes. Ciders with a small percentage of quince have become increasingly common, though usually the juice blend pre-fermentation is a single-digit percentage of quince. It's very rare to have a cider/wine made 100% from Quince, as this one is. An exceptionally well made, 100% quince!
Why we love Alma Cider: Alma Cider is a small, family business established in 2019, born from a dream to spend the days working outside in nature and to grow an unparalleled cider apple crop. In addition to making cider, Dave and Heather work tirelessly operating Bitters & Sharps Orchard in the Skagit Valley of Washington State, where they are planting a 36-acre cider apple orchard as well as providing orchard planning, grafting, and consultation services to other cider-makers in the Pacific Northwest. We first befriended Dave when we took (and passed! the Certified Pommelier exam together. Each of his cider, perry, and quince products are delightful - as is every opportunity to clink cider glasses with him.
